Chiang Mai, Thailand 2016

Photography, Travel, Visual

Welcome to the country side where its quaint and far from the bustling city of Bangkok. The city is in the north side of Thailand. It is mountainous in geography and refer as the creative capital of country. There’s more to Thailand’s second city than its glittering golden temples. A burgeoning population of digital nomads is transforming the place into a hipster heaven.

If you are looking for a place where in your creative juices would flow like the Chao Phraya River, This is the place. You will find some cheap rentals and instagrammable places easily.

This is Ang Kaew Reservoir at Chiang Mai University.

FOOD. This is the main reason why I visited Thailand. Thai Food is known in the world to be one of the best and delicious culinary cuisine.

Don’t miss the Night Bazaar Market in the Old City Wall. The Night Bazaar is approximately 1km long on Thanon Chang Khlan (large roads in Thailand are named Thanon, and smaller side streets are named Soi) (so Thanon Chang Khlan translates to Chang Khlan Road(http://www.visitchiangmai.com.au/night_bazaar.html)

So prepare your bargaining skills because you will need it.

The main temples and markets all lie within the old city walls, This an area of one square mile. You’ll probably want to sleep outside of it, though – its streets are multitude with tuk-tuks, backpackers on motorbikes and cheap massage joints. Chiang Mai, once the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lanna, runs on tuk-tuks and you can get almost anywhere in the back of one

The view from sacred Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, This Chiang Mai’s main temple, is the city’s most popular panorama. You have to climb 309 stairs up the Naga Serpent Staircase to see it. This is quite an experience. Make your way past orange-draped monks, golden spires and shrines to the far side of the wat for a view over Chiang Mai and the lush mountains beyond. You can either take a taxi, tuktuk or motorcycle.

The Long Neck Village is one memory that is etched in my mind forever, I have dreamt of seeing them in person since the first time I saw them on National Geographic Channel and I really can’t believe it that I was able to see, interact and even hug them. It was truly a magical experience.

I also went on a Elephant Safari which is really cool, one of the highlights of my trip. It was so fun watching them. I highly suggest to see it and experience feeding them. One thing though, they are animals and they get tired too, so please do not ride on them, the staff will let you experience it but just say no. The least thing the we can do to help is to feed and play with them.

Nimmanhaemin Road (8), This epicentre of hipster Chiang Mai, Locals call in “Nimman” It’s a kilometre-long road where in you can witness some of the best tasting coffee in South East Asia where espresso-fuelled digital nomads have made their home.

Here are some of my favorite coffee shops.

Travel: Bangkok, Thailand 2016

Photography, Travel, Visual

It is my first time to be in Bangkok and I was blown away. The city is so modern and everything is just minutes walk away from your favourite street food. It’s a community of juxtaposition where in traditional goes hand in hand with some of the grandiose architecture.

I stayed in Bed Station Hostel in Ratchathewi, The hostel is 2 minutes away from the BTS Ratchathewi Station. One of the best budget hostel that I’ve stayed in. It’s clean, well maintained, the airconditioned is topnotch and at the same time its economical. The Atmosphere of this place is really good because you get to meet a lot of fellow travelers, who knows you might find a friend for keeps there.

When you are in Bangkok, You have to visit the Temples. It is a must. Places to visit are Wat Phra, Wat Arun, Wat Saket and the magnificent Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha).

Maybe the lady on the right is thinking what a weirdo am I.

Visit also the Coffee Community in Bangkok , they are so many you will find them in every corner. My personal favorites are Brocolli Revolution, Hands and Heart and Rocket Coffee Bar S12. They are so serious about coffee that have a lot of themes per cafe, surely you will never ran out of cafe’s to visit.

Every Bangkok exploration is not complete without filling in your tummy with good and affordable food. You can find street food almost anywhere in the city. Must try is Mango Sticky Rice, Authentic Pad Thai, those little fried eggs (to die for) and the absolutely delicious Thai Milk tea. If you are feeling a little bit luxurious you might want to try  no. 1 Best Restaurant in the world Gaggan. Whatever you like you eat Bangkok has something to offer.

P.S. My apologies if I wasn’t able to update my blog for a very long time, you see one of my new year resolutions is to update this blog on a regular basis.

I hope you enjoy the photos and please do comment below on any suggestions that you might want to share with me or things you want to see in this blog.

Thank you very much and I missed you all

I arrived in Siem Reap at past 10:00pm,  My friend Theo picked me up at the bus station. Theo is from Singapore whom I met in Couchsurfing. We stop over for dinner as I am very very hungry and then went straight to our Host. Theo introduced me to our host Mike, He is living with his brother. The place is 10 minutes away from the city proper via tuktuk. He is really a gracious host and provided everything we need. We stayed there for 1 night.

This is Angkor Wat proper. As you scroll down, You will see the intricate details of the temple and you will be astound by the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the Khmer People. I was blown away by the details of structure and how they build it without modern technology. It was really interesting.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 2016

Ho Chi Minh is a vibrant city that keeps it’s traditional cultures up to today. It is evident in their day to day lives. The architecture in the city is a mesh of old and new that is why many foreigners are drawn to exploring the city.

DSCF3613

It is my first time in Vietnam and I stayed at this little Hostel called Long Hostel, It’s located in Pham Ngu Lao Street, District 1 or popularly known as the “Backpacker District”. Its really recommended, it change the way I look at Hostels in general and living with other travellers. The owner of the hostel is very accommodating and very very helpful. The free breakfast is delicious and of course the most loved Vietnamese  Coffee.
